I visited very recently and the service was fast and friendly and most importantly the food was great! The fishcake made a perfect starter as me and my partner walked away with our food, the battered sausage was perfectly crispy and not at all soggy as my local fish and chip shop does them unfortunately and the fish and chips were lovely too! Highly recommended this place :)

It's a good fish and chips place. I ordered a medium cod with half chips, and was not disappointed. The other reviews are spot on about everything, it got really crowded after I placed my order, and I got my food in about 10 minutes. They don't take cash, but there's a cash machine across the road. It's a must try if you're near the area.

We were in Bournemouth just for a 2 night break. Never been to Bournemouth before and I looked up where the best fish and chip shop is. It gave me Barnacles, my husband isn't a great lover of fish and chips but he said he would have some with me. Everything cooked fresh and we sat in the car and enjoyed them hot. Well what can I say, they was the best we have both had in a long time even my husband was very happy and very tasty. Well done to Barnacles keep up the good work 👍

I've been eating here for the last 10 years and I've never had anything other than excellent food. This is not my local chippy - I'm in East Cliff. Their fish and chips are unsurpassed. The cod is tender and a thick fillet, even the Cod Special for smaller appetites. The chips are thick cut and never pre-cooked. They are the best chips I've ever eaten - fresh, cooked to perfection. Nothing is too much trouble. The owners are warm, kind people. There is always a hello waiting for you and an acknowledgement of a returning customer. If Barnacles is closed then I wait for them to open again before having fish and chips. That way I know I won't be disappointed. Thank you Barnacles.
